The Association of Fund Raising Professionals names Dick & Kaye Woltman as Outstanding Fundraising Volunteers
Philanthropists, volunteers, corporations and independent business owners, whose year-round efforts help sustain critical programs and services offered throughout San Diego, were recently recognized for their outstanding contributions to the community. The Association of Fundraising Professions San Diego Chapter, along with Sempra Energy as Presenting Sponsor, presented these prestigious awards at their annual National Philanthropy Day luncheon on November 12th.
The individuals and organizations honored were nominated and chosen by local nonprofit organizations in recognition of their many gifts of time, talent and treasure. In some cases, honorees were nominated by multiple organizations due to their range of services from youth recreation and leadership training, to health care and animal protection.
This years Outstanding Fundraising Volunteers award was presented to Richard and Kaye Woltman.
Dick and Kaye Woltman have lived the Rotarian motto, Service Above Self, their entire lives. Their common beliefs, shared passion and combined interest in Rotary drive their significant philanthropy today and give meaning to their professional lives at Girard Securities. More than anything, Dick and Kaye give generously of their time, as well as their resources, to the causes for which they care so deeply - health care, education and youth.
They are both avid supporters of Scripps Health. Dick joined the Mercy Hospital Foundation Board of Directors in 1995 and has served as chairman of the board and chair of the successful Heart Care Center Campaign that has raised $5.3 million. In addition, Dick has served of the Scripps Health Foundation development committee which supports philanthropic activities at Scripps Health's five campuses.
In 2002, Kaye was elected to the Scripps Health Board of Trustees and has chaired the audit, finance and investment committee. Currently they both serve on the Cancer Center committee and are co-chairs of a $50 million capital campaign for critical care and cancer services.
The Woltman's were inspired to support the University of San Diego's Hahn School of Nursing and Health Science through the Richard and Kaye Woltman Scholarship. The scholarship has allowed the School of Nursing and Health Science to expand its Master's Entry Program in Nursing (MEPn). Kaye is on the board of USD and a member of the Finance, Student Affairs and Executive Committee. Dick is a trustee Emeritus and a current member of the Investment Committee.
Dick and Kaye have been president of Rotary Club of La Jolla where they helped create the Club's fundraiser "Stars in our Eyes". The event supports college scholarships for students from all four La Jolla high schools. At one of those schools, they have endowed a full scholarship in memory of Melisa McGuire, their daughter and a Bishop's alumna.
Dick is past board member and active supporter the YMCA of San Diego County. Kaye is on the board of San Diego Hospice and is Chair elect. Dick and Kaye have supported its mission for many years. The Woltman's philanthropy and volunteerism extends to St. Paul's Foundation, the Boys and Girls Club of El Cajon and the Rancho Santa Fe Foundation.
San Diego Business Journal honors Richard P. Woltman as one of San Diego's Most Admired CEO's
Each year the San Diego Business Journal recognizes the most admired CEO's that work in San Diego. Awards are presented to CEO's of government agencies, non-profit organizations, private companies and public companies. At an event attended by over 500 people, the Business Journal honored Girard's CEO, Richard Woltman as a finalist in the public company category. Mr. Woltman was recognized for his accomplishments in his profession, and the community.

On November 5th, Girard Securities, Inc. was recognized by the San Diego Business Journal as a finalist in the Family-Owned and Closely-Held Business Award category. Each year, the Journal recognizes the accomplishments of businesses in the county that are family owned or closely held.
